Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, between Telluride and Durango, the Mancos River Ranch is a secluded oasis surrounded by National Forest. 3/4 of a mile of the Mancos River flows through the length of the property. Giant Ponderosa Pines 100 years old and 10 stories tall surround the large 170 acre pasture which has been a favorite wintering ground for dozens of Elk for years. It's easy to envision owning your own horses, growing your own hay and enjoying the magnificent views stretching to Mesa Verde, Arizona and Utah from your own private retreat in Southwest Colorado. |

The Rio Grande Southern, a railroad no longer in existence, passed through the Mancos River Ranch long ago. It's completion in 1891 established it as one of the greatest wonders of railroad building in America. Traversing 172 miles and 130 bridges, it connected dozens of mining towns isolated high in the 14,000 foot mountains of the Colorado Rockies - navigating over the most difficult railroad terrain ever conquered in North America. The water tank pictured above sits on the Mancos River Ranch and is one of the last physical reminders of this extraordinary railroad. Because this Ranch is surrounded by National Forest, it has a long history as a popular host for Elk hunters. With direct access to over 2 million acres of National Forest, irrigation water rights of 3 cubic feet a second and a well at 15 gallons a minute, this Ranch and its 170 acres of pasture is wide open to a plethora of possibilities. |
